Comprehensive PBL Tutor Training Workshop

The Office of Medical Education is pleased to offer the following faculty training opportunity related to Problem-Based Learning (PBL). This opportunity is meant to serve as an introduction to PBL for new faculty, or as a “refresher course” for faculty members who may already have some experience using PBL. While there is no tuition fee for this workshop, advanced registration is required.

 

Intended Audience:

Any JABSOM faculty member who would like to be certified to serve as a small group facilitator in the preclinical PBL curriculum.

 

Workshop Description:

This first session of this two half-day workshop is designed to introduce participants to the principles of PBL, potential applications of PBL in different settings, and the role of the PBL tutor. The second session of this two half-day workshop is an introduction to basic PBL tutor tasks, followed by hands-on practice, feedback and discussion. Participants will be given the opportunity to work with volunteer medical students as part of this session.

 

Important Note:

To receive credit for completing this workshop, participants must attend the entirety of both days.

Spring Workshop:

Wednesday, May 24, 2017, 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM  and

Friday, May 26, 2017, 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM

 

Fall Workshop:

Wednesday, October 4, 2017 – 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM and

Friday, October 6, 2017, 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM

the Registration Form and return to the Office of Medical Education via USPS, campus mail, fax, or email. Space is limited for each workshop.
